Casa del Marquès
Casa del Marquès in Masnou is a noucentista-style building that dates from the beginning of the 20th century and is one of the most emblematic buildings in the municipality. The house has a semi-basement, ground floor and two floors, but the most characteristic elements of the building are the two octagonal towers that flank the main facade, covered with sharp slate pyramids.
This building was built at the request of Romà Fabra i Puig, who received the title of first Marquis of Masnou. The building currently belongs to the town hall of Masnou and houses the Casa del Marquès Business Centre, a municipal facility whose aim is to promote local economic development through the support and promotion of new or recent business initiatives.
Fabra i Puig also ordered the construction of the Lake Park as a garden for the house. It is a space with compositional elements specific to the French neoclassical style of the late 19th century. The central lake, which gives the park its name, stands out. At the opposite end of the entrance, a romantic-inspired complex was built including a raised lookout, a cave and a waterfall. The central esplanade and the corridors surrounding the pond, as well as rich ornamental vegetation, also stand out.
